Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the storytelling method on the language development of children aged 4–5 years at TK Suluh Tani Jember. This research employs a Pre-Experimental One Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The variables used consist of independent and dependent variables. Data collection techniques include observation and documentation. The population of this study comprises all children at TK Suluh Tani, totaling 120 children. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, specifically children aged 4–5 years at TK Suluh Tani, totaling 14 participants. The researcher used an observation guideline with a Likert scale instrument. Data analysis was conducted using a t-test. The results show that the significance value (two-tailed) of 0.00 is smaller than 0.05. In addition, based on the comparison between tₕᵢₜᵤₙg (calculated t-value) and tₜₐᵦₗₑ (table value), it is found that tₕᵢₜᵤₙg is greater than tₜₐᵦₗₑ, indicating that H₀ is rejected and Hₐ is accepted. This means there is a significant effect of the storytelling method on children's language development. Based on the t-test formula, the tₜₐᵦₗₑ value is 2.179, while the tₕᵢₜᵤₙg value obtained is 2.26036866. Thus, it can be concluded that tₕᵢₜᵤₙg > tₜₐᵦₗₑ, meaning H₀ is rejected and Hₐ is accepted. Therefore, there is a significant effect of the storytelling method on the language development of children aged 4–5 years at TK Suluh Tani.
