Abstract

This study aims to explore the application of ethnomathematics in the aspects of measuring and counting within pentol-making activities. The research employed a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach, focusing on observing and analyzing pentol-making activities as a local tradition that embodies mathematical values. The data analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that, throughout the pentol-making process, aspects of measurement and counting were identified in various stages, ranging from determining the quantity of ingredients and measuring the dough to calculating production costs and generated profits. This mathematical knowledge has been passed down from generation to generation and is continuously practiced by the local community, demonstrating the relevance of ethnomathematics in everyday activities. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the relationship between local culture and mathematics learning, while also emphasizing the importance of contextual approaches in mathematics education.
